Didymocorypha

Didymocorypha are small mantids with a longish body. They have long cerci and a horned head.

The Female have no wings, but the male mantids are winged with reduced wings, which cover about the half of the abdomen.

Group-keeping is no problem with this genus, because the aggressiviness to each other is very low.

At the moment only one species is described: Didymocorypha lanceolata (FABRICIUS, 1798).

Typical look of the nymphs:

  • L2: lightgreen with white-black striped antennas
  • L3: yellow to brownish, the stripes of the antennas are getting a little bit lost
  • L4 and up: like bigger nymphs

These mantids are very fast and start to eat shortly after hatching.
